    Description

This is a a very special 1953 Madame Alexander-kin Wendy Kin QUIZ-KIN Doll that is such a rare doll to find that has such a beautiful face. She is the heavier weight doll with the face that is more full around the cheeks. She is marked ALEX on her back and has a beautiful triple-stitched hair that seems to just drape down her back. The wig is somewhat loose on the sides and underneath and may need to be secured more, but this is exactly how she was given to a lady that we purchased her from who was given this doll as a little girl. The curls on the back side might need to be tightened a little but we have always loved her just the way she was found.
This Quiz-Kin turns her head to the side when one button is pressed, and sort of moves her head forward a bit with the other button.  We are honestly not sure if this is how it should work.  Her head seems to be a little off center from the metal piece holding her head that is used for the Yes-No function.  She is a little loosely strung now and should be secured with a doll stand to display her safely. Her arms do not pose easily upward and stay down by her sides.
This doll really has a very soft and beautiful appearance.  She has nicely painted lower lashes and lightly blushed cheeks. She has
    some
missing lip paint color. Her body, legs and arms are in nice condition with some light rubs or marks on them and some light discoloration overall.  Each one of the 1953 dolls has such a unique face and this Quiz-Kin is truly a charmer!
She is wearing what is called the Maypole Dance dress that is very clean and crisp but faded. There are paint rubs on the two metal grommets and we have an added a ribbon that secures the apron around her waist.  We found a tiny hole in the apron that is very hard to see (please look closely at photo 4 on the back right side of apron; just let us know if you would like a closeup photo as we are limited to 12 total photos here).  Even though the pastel blue and pink colors are very faded now, the dress displays so nicely as you can see in the photos. We have a pair of underpants that are with the dress and even though they are not original to the outfit, they match rather nicely. The pants fit her well but there is an area of the waist seam that could be sewn better. There is also a pair of more current black soft shoes with smith bottoms and a pair of socks that we put on her in order to keep her feet safe.  The shoes are in good condition with some wear to them and the socks have some stretching to them.
As you can see, even though she may not be perfect, she is such a precious Quiz-Kin that you just cannot help but love!
Please do not hesitate to ask for any additional photos or closeups as we are parting with a family collection and want to make sure that you know as much as possible about her before purchasing her.  We took numerous photos so, again, please do not hesitate to ask.  We hope to find her a wonderful new home.
